Picasso exclusive Gippsland Art Gallery February.

Saturday 1 February to Sunday 6 April 2014, open during Gallery hours.

Exclusive to the Gippsland Art Gallery this summer is the fascinating exhibition Picasso’s Women. Celebrating the relentless innovationa and passion of one of the world’s most iconic artists, Picasso’s Women is an exculsive exhibit, featuring guest curator Brett Stone, from the Olsen Irwin Gallery in Sydney, and the exhibit will be opened by Rex Irwin, Director of the Olsen Irwin Gallery. Exploring the work of Pablo Picasso,one of the twentieth century’s greatest artists, and the relationships with the various women in his life, this exhibitions features works on paper from every stage of Picasso’s long career, including the famous Blue and Rose periods, through the Cubism and his later works.

Bruthen Blues and Arts Festival. February 14-16, Bruthen Main Street, Bruthen.

The 19th Annual Bruthen Blues and Arts Festival brings an amazing line up of seriously talented Blues musicians to a family friendly environment, with a colourful market and plenty of kids activities. The Bruthen Blues and Arts Festival has something for everyone. This year the free music stage on Saturday February 15 will feature the competition final of the International Musicians Challenge. There are two venues to choose from on the Saturday night of the festival,  the laid back and family friendly vibe of the Blues Cafe at the Hall, and the Big Blues Bash party at the Bruthen Inn Hotel.

Leading the bill for the festival is Geoff Achison and the Soul Diggers. Other artists incluce Lachy Doly Group, Blues Mountain, The Fret Drifters from the USA, Zevon & the Werewolves of Melbourne, Claude Hay, Hey Gringo, Salty Dog, Zucchini Clan, Nicki Moffat Band, First Tuesday Blues Club, Dirty Souls, Mark McCord & Friends, Matt Katsis, Cookies & Cream, East Gippsland Brass band.

Head down to Phillip Island this weekend to cheer on the participants of this years Cowes Classic. The Cowes Classic comprises a 500 metre swim around the Cowes Pier and a 4km run finishing up the main street outside the Isle of Wight Hotel.  A part of the Bass Coast series of biathlons, the Cowes Classic is a highly anticipated annual event in the Bass Coast shire.
